Week 7

WEEK 7 STUDIO MAKING       This week I experimented with paper folding techniques. I created this model that consists of four papers folded and then stuck together to create a zig-zag motion. The model could be formed as a bridge-like appearance but also folded together closely to form an interesting model that could be placed on top of a large building. This model was created with thick normal paper which was appropriate as it was able to be flexible with the folds. If I have used cardboard it would have not folded as easily as paper, hence does not give a firm appearance.  I also created a model of a room with cardboard which was 1:100 scale. I also added small pieces of furniture including a table and a bed to further enhance the model. I like using cardboard as it gives a firm figure and is easy to attach all pieces whereas paper is flimsy so it can be difficult to attach pieces together.

Week 9

Week 9 New models with balsa and compact disks        Using Photoshop, I changed the colours of the models to enhance the design and make it more interesting.

Week 5

Fusion 350 A Space Between Task Produced three rectangular prisms connected to one large room.      Final Product in Illustrator - ready to laser cut! This task was highly challenging for me as it was my first time using this application and took a while to get a hang of it. I had to repeat several times to understand the procedures on using Fusion360, in which Russell's videos helped a lot. I finally created three rectangular prisms that are all connected together. I decided to design this based on my room and add two prisms to make it more interesting. For future projects, I want to try adding more models on top of a model, rather than all models being placed on the same surface. I found that using Illustrator was easier than F360 as it was very straight forward and simple.
